MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball head coach
Jeff Breeden announces the signing of University of Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore transfer Julia Garcia on Thursday.

Garcia, a native of Cornwall, New York, joins the Blue Raiders from Maryland Eastern Shore with three years of eligibility after sitting out the 2021 season and competing and starting in all 51 contests during the 2022 season for the Hawks.
During the 2022 season, the catcher/third baseman helped lead the Hawks to a MEAC Tournament berth. Garcia batted a team second-best .342 and knocked 54 hits, including a team-leading 16 doubles, which ranked second in the MEAC, and seven home runs. She also led the Hawks in RBI with an impressive 40 on the season, total bases with 91, and finished second on the team with 26 runs scored. Garcia also went a nearly perfect 6-of-7 on the basepaths this past season for the Hawks.
Prior to her collegiate career, Garcia was a three-sport athlete at Cornwall Central High School, competing in softball, basketball, and track and field. She was a two-time All-State and All-Section softball player and was earned All-American status as well as being a two-time state champion in track and field. She holds the Cornwall Central and section home run record with 25 long balls and the track weight throw record of 55.10 meters. In addition to her high school career, Garcia also competed in club softball with the Empire State Huskies, winning over 20 tournaments.
Garcia marks the fourth Blue Raider signee of the 2022 signing class, joining Ansley Blevins, Paige Connors, and Lexi Medlock.
