Quality Dairy suspends work at bakery after inspectors find problems
LANSING – Quality Dairy has “temporarily suspended” production at its bakery following a state food safety inspection, the company said in a statement on Thursday, Oct. 8. The Lansing-based company said inspectors from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development found “sanitation and pest control concerns that require corrective action.” “We take these findings seriously,” Ken Martin, QD’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “Our team is working with outside specialists to address the issues, conduct additional environmental testing and meet the state's requirements before resuming bakery operations. “We know how much our bakery products mean to our customers, and we apologize for the temporary interruption. Our other food production and QD stores are operating as usual. “For 90 years, Quality Dairy has been part of the Greater Lansing community. We value the trust our customers have placed in us, and we are committed to doing what is necessary to protect that trust.” Martin said the company would share additional information as it becomes available.
