Cat tossed from vehicle gets second chance thanks to good Samaritan
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Frankie's Friends animal rescue needs help after a good Samaritan brought in a cat who'd been thrown from a vehicle. Nelly is a sweet kitty with a grumpy face and a sad tale. Frankie's Friends in New Kensington was contacted by a woman who says she saw the Persian mix cat being thrown from a vehicle on a Route 28 ramp near the Comfort Inn in O'Hara Township.
Third Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing in Pittsburgh's Elliott Neighborhood
Pittsburgh Public Safety has reported the arrest of a third suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man in the city's Elliott neighborhood. Twenty-year-old Logan Smetanka is now in custody, joining 18-year-old Carlena Wells and 19-year-old Dominic Johnson in facing charges over the death of 37-year-old Marc Kovach. All three are implicated in a gruesome scene where Kovach was discovered at the bottom of a staircase in front of a derelict house on Steuben Street back in March, as first reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.

Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh hosts second annual Barks and Brews event
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The east side of Pittsburgh was the place to be on Saturday when the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh hosted its second annual Barks and Brews event. HARP used the event as a way to bring more attention to the animal rescue and Saturday's event featured a handful of local breweries and food trucks from local restaurants. It also included plenty of chances to meet some of HARP's adoptable pets all the while learning about the important work the rescue does in the Pittsburgh community. "We have 9 breweries here, a few food trucks, but again lots of people coming out, we've managed to escape the raindrops, so folks are having fun, but again also learning about all the work Humane Animal Rescue does and raise some money to help continue those programs," said Michele Frennier Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh's Director of Marketing.
