MUNCIE, Ind. — The Star Press' fifth East Central Indiana high school football Player of the Week in 2023, sponsored by IU Health, is Yorktown's Ayden Ewing.

In what was a thrilling 34-28 homecoming win over New Castle, the senior running back was nothing short of dominant. He notched 16 carries for a career-high 205 yards and two TD's, as well as four total tackles and three quarterback hurries on defense.

Finishing second in the voting was Monroe Central's Jerimiah Ullom. The junior was a two-way beast in his team's 28-13 loss to South Adams, tallying 10 carries for 50 yards and one TD offensively, and eight total tackles with a career-high 4.0 TFL's and one sack on defense.

Yorktown fans were active this week, helping Ewing comfortably finish in front by garnering 32.3% (587 votes) of the 1,818 total votes cast. Ullom wasn't too far behind with 23.2% (422), and placing third was Delta's Braxton Russell (17.4%, 317). Rounding out the poll was Winchester's Aidan Weatherhead (14.6%, 266), Delta's D'Amare Hood (11%, 199), and finally Wes-Del's Trey Adams, New Castle's Tylin Thrine, Blackford's Daniel Ludwig and Shenandoah's Evan Fries.
