Tank turns over on Boston Road
A wide-load trailer turned over last week on Boston Road about five miles west of Bardstown, depositing an M1 Abrams tank on its top on the side of the road. The accident occurred west of Belwood Road on U.S. 62 (Boston Road) after the trailer was rerouted because of wide load restrictions on the Bluegrass Parkway because of construction.

Campbellsville High School has announced Amber Johnson as the next head coach of its volleyball program. Johnson has been a special education teacher for 11 years in Campbellsville Independent Schools. She has been a part of the volleyball program for five of those years.

Washington County Youth Basketball Camp held
SPRINGFIELD — The Washington County Youth Basketball Camp was held Monday, June 3-Wednesday, June 5. The camp, under the direction of Washington County boys’ basketball head coach Stephen Woodson, included 62 campers. Both boys and girls attended the youth basketball camp, which was conducted at Washington County Middle School. The campers attending the camp were from fourth grade-eighth grade. Numerous award-winners were honored during the camp.
Springfield man arrested, indicted for rape
A Springfield man has been arrested and charged with rape, sexual abuse and sodomy. Anthony Michael McDowell, 45, of 579 Claybrook Lane, Springfield, was arrested after a Washington County Grand Jury returned an indictment on May 22 for first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and first-degree sodomy. He was arrested on May 29 by Washington County Deputy Lynn Davis.
