Plant-based restaurant opens in Moultrie

MOULTRIE, Ga. – I can’t believe it’s not beef, as the grand opening of Vegan West Coast Grill offers a healthier lifestyle to the people of Moultrie.

“Veganism, just eating food that is plant based is so much healthier for us,” said Deborah Howard, owner, Vegan West Coast Grill.

But, with a plant based restaurant in the south, there’s bound to be resistance for potential customers.

“What we did with our food is give it a southern flair because we didn’t want people to shy away from it, so we gave them some things that were homegrown,” said Howard.

Healthier eating habits have the potential to help our bodies.

“If your experiencing any health issues like inflation, like high cholesterol, you can lower your cholesterol by eating plant based,” said Howard.

Howard also tells me that this restaurant is her gift to Moultrie…

I just wanted to bring something back to the community that had given me my roots. I think I am who I am today based on my upbringing in a small rural town,” said Howard.
