Hwy. 35 South of Big Creek To Be Resurfaced This Year
LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) recently announced that Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel has been awarded an $11.6 million bid to resurface portions of Hwy. 35 south of the Big Creek bridge.The project includes resurfacing about 4.5 miles of Hwy. 35 east of the Big Creek bridge at Herbine to the Hwy. 63 intersection at Pansy. In addition, it also includes repaving Hwy. 35 from the Hwy. 63 intersection at Rye to the Hwy. 425 intersection north of Monticello. That portion includes about 1.5 miles in Cleveland County.This latest project essentially picks up from where a major resurfacing of Hwy. 35 from the Grant County line at Staves to the Big Creek bridge at Herbine was completed several years ago.Overall, the ADOT reported the project will resurface 17.4 miles of Hwy. 35 through Cleveland and Drew counties.Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel was awarded a bid of $11,605,437.19 for the entire project. Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel was also awarded a $5.25 million grant to resurface 8.3 miles of Hwy. 114 from the Hwy. 35 intersection south of Rison to the Hwy. 63 intersection at Calmer.The projects are expected to begin this summer.
