Motorists should expect delays as I-80 eastbound local and express lanes will be affected by bridge deck repairs.

Parsippany-Troy Hills — Drivers on I-80 eastbound in Parsippany-Troy Hills, Morris County, should prepare for significant lane closures and detours tonight due to scheduled bridge deck repairs. The closures will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, and continue until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24.

    Key Details:

    Local Lane Closures:

The I-80 eastbound local lanes will be completely closed, with all traffic being detoured via the Exit 47A ramp to I-280 eastbound. Motorists will follow a designated detour route to return to I-80 eastbound.

    Express Lane Closures:

In addition to the local lane closures, the right lane of the I-80 eastbound express lanes will also be closed after Exit 47A. At least one express lane will remain open, though traffic will be limited as the center and right lanes are closed between mileposts 46.1 and 46.5.

    Detour Route:

    • All local lane traffic will take Exit 47A to I-280 eastbound.
    • From I-280, take Exit 1 to Everetts Road/New Road.
    • Turn left onto New Road, then right onto Route 46 eastbound.
    • Use the exit for Hook Mountain Road/U-turn, stay in the right lane, cross Route 46, and turn right onto New Maple Road.
    • Stay left to re-enter I-80 eastbound.

    Open Exits:

The I-80 Exit 47B to Route 46 eastbound and the Route 46 eastbound exit to I-80 eastbound will remain open during the repairs.

The closures are part of a $15 million state-funded project aimed at performing preventative maintenance and extending the service life of bridge structures across multiple counties, including Morris.

Drivers are urged to slow down, exercise caution, and anticipate delays. The timing of the work is weather-dependent, so motorists should check NJDOT’s traffic information website, 511nj.org, for real-time updates and construction alerts.
