    Pierz tennis wins two straight matches; Flyers go 2-1 during the week

    The Pierz Pioneers tennis team traveled to Mora Tuesday, Sept. 10, winning 4-3. They won two of the singles matches, starting with Sam Hoheisel winning two sets (6-0, 6-2) along with Adi Tomala (6-0, 6-0).

    In the doubles matches, Abbie Virnig and Evalie Gall won 7-5 in the first set and 6-2 in the second set. Evalie Gall and McKenna Hoheisel won their match with the same score.

    The Pioneers also hosted Parkers Prairie Monday, Sept. 9. The Pioneers won 5-2. Sam Hoheisel won her match 7-6 and 6-0. Tomala won her match 6-1 and 6-2. In doubles, Madelyn Kessler and Clara Tax won 6-0 and 6-1. Virnig and Gall won their match in two sets (6-1, 6-0) along with the duo of Laura Young and KansasBlock (6-0, 6-0). Two doubles teams played in an extra match towards the end of the meet. Abby Gall and Brooke Athman won their match 6-0 and Gabby Lopez and Daizy Dickman won 6-2.

    The Pioneers traveled to Pequot Lakes Thursday, Sept. 12. They will also host Crosby-Ironton Tuesday, Sept. 17.

    Flyers beats Moorhead

    and upset Pequot Lakes

    The Little Falls Flyers tennis team traveled to a triangular meet in Moorhead Tuesday, Sept. 10. The Flyers first beat Moorhead 5-2. Elise Ballou won her singles match (6-1, 6-4) along with Olivia Litke (6-1 and 6-0).

    The Flyers won all three doubles matches, starting with Julia Lange and Natalie Graeve winning 6-0 and 6-3. Myla Ballou/Aylah Iverson won 6-4 and 6-1 and Danika Holmberg/Ellie Abbott won 6-1 and 6-2.

    The Flyers lost their second match against Alexandria, losing 3-4. All the Flyers’ victories came from the singles: Elise Ballou won 6-1 and 6-2, Olivia Litke winning, 6-3 and 7-5 and Addie Ranta finishing in three matches (6-3, 4-6 and 10-5).

    The Flyers also traveled to a match in Aitkin Thursday, Sept. 5, winning with a 7-0 shut out. Highlights from the match include Ballou and Addi Ranta winning their singles matches 6-0 in both sets. Other singles winners were Brooke Litke (6-1, 6-0) and Olivia Litke (6-0, 6-2).

    The doubles team of Lange and Graeve had the longest match, winning in three sets (6-2, 5-7, 10-8). Other winners were Myla Ballou/Iverson (6-0, 6-1) and Holmberg/Abbott (6-2, 6-1).

    The Flyers played against Crosby at home Thursday, Sept. 12. They will also host Mora Tuesday, Sept. 17.
