Flyers girls soccer shoots past Willmar in three-game week

The Little Falls Flyers girls soccer team went 1-2 during the week, but had a phenomenal performance in a home game against Willmar Saturday, Sept. 7, winning 6-1.

Thompson was the first to score six minutes into the game. She scored again 12 minutes later to end the first half 2-0.

Thompson made a hat trick four minutes in the second half with the assist from Brooklyn VonBerge. Five minutes later, Thompson assisted Harper Moore scoring her first goal. Addison Loeffler also earned her first goal at the 16-minute mark, with another assist from Thompson. Thompson drove in the Flyers’ final goal of the game, after intercepting a Willmar pass. Thompson’s four goals has her tied for the second most scores in team history.

The Flyers also hosted St. John’s Prep Thursday, Sept. 5, losing 0-1. St. John’s only goal came from a free kick at the 30 minute mark. The Flyers had four shots on goal while St. John’s had two. Anderson had one save.

The Flyers traveled to their latest game against Becker Tuesday, Sept. 10. The Flyers had a 1-0 lead to start the game early, but lost 1-3.

The lone goal was scored by Thompson, assisted by Ellyse Freudenrich. Becker scored at the 21 minute mark and came out on top at 33 minutes. Becker capped off its score with a goal 6 minutes into the second half. Goalie Kylin Anderson had eight saves on 11 shots on goal. The Flyers ended the game with five shots on goal.

The Flyers hosted Albany Thursday, Sept. 12 and East Grand Forks Friday, Sept. 13. They will travel to Melrose Tuesday, Sept. 17
