Traffic stop results in Morgantown drug arrest

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A Morgantown man is behind bars after attempting to flee from police during a trffic stop last week.

Reports indicate Daiquan Barbee was allegedly driving left of center when he was stopped just before 3 a.m. near Falling Run Road and College Avenue.

When police approached the vehicle they noted a strong odor of marijuana. A search uncovered 30 grams of marijuana and six smaller baggies with 3.5 grams each in a backpack.

During the search Barbee was able to flee for a shor period but was recaptured on Stewart Street. Whwen Barbee was taken into custody police said he had $118 in cash, a digital scale and two more baggies of marijuana containing 3.5 grams each.

Barbee was taken to the North Central Regional Jail and charged with possession with intent to deliver. He is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
