West Virginia Moves into the Top 25

The Mountaineers are on a nine-game winning streak and have climbed into the top 25

On Monday, the West Virginia Mountaineers broke into the D1Baseball.com Top 25 and were placed 24th in the poll. 

The Mountaineers are winners of nine straight and have outscored their opponents 113-23 during that span. 

West Virginia holds a 15-4 overall record, marking the best start during the Randy Mazey era. The Mountaineers have notched series wins over Arizona and Minnesota in addition to App State and UNC Greensboro as well as midweek win at No. 13 Maryland.

West Virginia spent last week in the State of North Carolina. The Mountaineers began their tour winning two games at Appalachian State before traveling east to UNC Greensboro for a three-game series sweep.

The Mountaineers lead the Big 12 in stolen bases with 53 and rank third in batting average (.300), doubles (43), triples (7), and fourth in RBIs (147) and home runs (24).

J.J. Wetherholt has highlighted a hot Mountaineer offense, batting a league-leading .462 and a league high 17 steals. The sophomore also ranks second in doubles with nine and his 25 RBIs places him fourth.
