New adult day care center opens in Dawson, GA
DAWSON – The Terrell County Chamber of Commerce welcomed S&S Adult Day Health to Dawson Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The facility will serve as a center for activities and meals for senior residents or residents with disabilities in Terrell and surrounding counties. The facility has various rooms – a game room, library and research room, and wellness room – and will offer catered breakfasts and lunches. A certified nurse will be present Monday through Friday and the center will be open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m..

ALBANY ‒ Love is in the air for Georgia’s official state reptile, and female gopher tortoises are busy laying clutches of eggs outside their burrows. Although gopher tortoises currently seem to be well-distributed throughout their range, there is a serious decline in their overall numbers and favored habitat. The gopher tortoise is considered a keystone species of the Coastal Plain, as the survival of more than 360 other species are dependent upon the tortoise’s subterranean burrows for their survival.
