NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - After FOX 8 detailed widespread complaints about Magnolia Water rate hikes, one public service commissioner explains why the increase was approved. “Nobody likes to have rate increases but again, it’s the cost of getting a system that functions,” said Louisiana Public Service Commissioner Eric Skrmetta.
BESSIE HIDALGO MAYON
Bessie Hidalgo Mayon was born March 17, 1931 in Bayou Sale to Caliste and Zulama Hidalgo. She met the one and only love of her life Dudley “D.J.” Mayon at 15 and married him at 16. They were married for 45 years when he passed away in 1992. She loved to sew and taught her two daughters this art when they were very young. In the 70’s she obtained her GED and decided she wanted to get a job and so she did but she still always made time to work in her garden and tend to her beautiful flowers. She sewed, did alterations and monogramming at Joe’s Boots for many years until her failing health caused her to quit.

Sulphur Resident Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop in Labadieville
Aaron Paul Prestenbach, 42, from Sulphur, LA, was arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Labadieville, says Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon. The arrest happened on Monday on the 2500 Block of LA 1 when a narcotics officer noticed a traffic violation and stopped Prestenbach's car.

Jamal West scored 17 points while going 4 of 7 and 9 of 12 from the free throw line, and added nine rebounds.
