Coastal Conference hands out eight spring awards to Croatan in baseball, tennis, track and field

County Board Commissioners adopts ordinance to allow removal of abandoned or derelict boats
BEAUFORT — The Carteret County Board of Commissioners Monday night unanimously adopted a new ordinance that will allow the county to remove derelict and abandoned boats. The board acted during its monthly session in the meeting room in the administration building on Courthouse Square in Beaufort.
Pedestrian hit by 18-wheeler in Onslow County
SWANSBORO, Onslow County — Officers with the Swansboro Police Department confirmed a pedestrian was hit by an 18-wheeler on Corbett Ave. May 21, 2024. They said the truck was driving on N.C. Highway 24 near the intersection of W. Corbett Ave. and Hammocks Beach Road when the crash happened.

Emerald Isle reopens bid for beach walkway reconstruction in June 2024
EMERALD ISLE, Carteret County — A town here in the east is set to release a new bid next month for the demolition and reconstruction of multiple beach access walkways. Emerald Isle was awarded a $825,000 FEMA grant that was initially planned to restore 10 walkways. Town officials originally believed the bids would come in under this amount however, the five bids received all came in over budget.
