Neither mole nor flea … just good bait; Fishing stays beautiful despite up and down weather
Everyone complains about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it. A week ago, I was touting surf temps at 76 degrees with Bogue Sound hitting 80 degrees. Then a cold front happened, dropping the surf back to 68 degrees and the sound to 71 degrees Monday morning. By the way, I’m only the messenger! We will see what this week brings.

Rachel Ann Allred, 87, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, May 11, 2024. A funeral service to honor Ms. Rachel’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18th, at Glad Tidings Church, officiated by Rev. Tim Marriner. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
EI board receives manager’s proposed budget, cancels 2024 beach music festival
EMERALD ISLE — Emerald Isle commissioners Tuesday night seemed generally pleased with Town Manager Matt Zapp’s recommended 2024-25 budget, which calls for general fund expenditures $13,265,184 and no increase in the property tax rate of 16.5 cents per $100 of assessed value. One cent of that rate funds beach nourishment.
34th annual Beaufort Music Festival ready to rock Gallants Channel
