Royal High teams win 12 titles at the Coastal Canyon League Track and Field Championships

The Royal High boys and girls teams each finished with five individual titles and two relays victories at the Coastal Canyon League Track and Field Finals on Friday at Moorpark High.

Asher Lee was a double champion, winning the 800 in 1 minute, 55.36 seconds, and the 1,600 in 4:21.64, to lead the Highlanders boys team. Graham LaBass won the pole vault title for the second straight season by clearing 13 feet, 6 inches. Preston Binns won the 200 in 21.84 and Sean Sandwick won the shot put (46-11). Thenuk Chandrasekera, Binns, Thomas DeJong and Benjamin Kirk won the 4x100 relay in 42.26. LaBass, Kirk, Binn and Lee won the 4x400 relay in 3:26.83.

Quincie Richards set a school and meet record (18-6.50) in winning her second straight league long jump title and set the school record in winning the triple jump (39-2.25) to lead the Highlanders girls team. Olivia Kirk sprinted to titles in the 100 (11.89) and 200 (24.83). Ava Hermansen won the pole vault (10-3). Richards, Kirk, Sydney Biscoe and Celine Munguia won the 4x100 relay in 48.91. Biscoe, Madison Boucher, Andrea Ortiz Carabajal and Kirk won the 4x400 relay in 4:07.48

Moorpark had four boys champions: David Raigoza won the 3,200 (9:29.17), Dominic Perez won the 400 (50.65), Cooper Cronquist won the discus (144-4), and Davis Benson won the high jump (6-4).

Camarillo's Jacson Cutting swept the boys hurdles events, winning the 110 in 15.85 and the 300 in 40.70. The Scorpions' Jelani Kawaichi won the triple jump title (42-5).

Simi Valley's Jayden Clarke was a boys double champion, winning the 100 in 10.79 and the long jump with a leap of 20-10.50.

Camarillo's Trinity Tipton swept the girls throwing events, setting a school record in the discus (144-6) — which is the eighth-best mark in county history — and winning the shot put (39-5). The Scorpions' Samara Alaniz won the 800 (2:28.90).

Oak Park's Katrina Modrzejewski was a distance double champion, winning the girls 1,600 in 5:22.26 and the 3,200 in 11:42.84. The Eagles' Bailey Droll won the high jump (4-10).

Moorpark's Caitlyn Dougherty swept the girls hurdles events, winning the 100 in 15.70 and the 300 in 46.20.

Simi Valley's Caitlin Gonzalez won the girls 400 in 59.91.
