Two teenage boys are facing robbery charges after a victim was assaulted when meeting to buy a gaming console in Moorhead.

Moorhead PD says the incident was reported at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday on the 1500 block of Belsly Boulevard, with the victim saying he was meeting to buy the console when two boys "grabbed his money, pushed him, and ran off when they met in the apartment entryway."

Officers were initially unable to find the suspects, but the following day investigators posed as a buyer online and made arrangements to buy a console.

They met with the first suspect and took him into custody, with the second handing himself in at the Clay County Law Enforcement Center a short time later.

They are now being held at a juvenile detention center pending charges.

"The Moorhead Police Department reminds the community that several places, such as the Clay County Law Enforcement Center, have designated areas for meeting parties when purchasing or selling products to unknown people," Moorhead PD said.

"Other tips include: don't go alone, using secure payment methods versus exchanging cash (however, remember the use of gift cards is often a scam); do not share personal information that isn't necessary, do your research and check the person's profile, and other information provided on the site, including any buying and selling history and reviews, and lastly, if something doesn't feel right, avoid those transactions."
