Drought worsens with the forecast offering little hope for relief

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - While we’re enjoying a run of beautiful fall weather, the lack of rainfall recently is becoming an increasing concern. Before we dive into the forecast, it’s worth noting that a ‘space jellyfish’ might be visible across portions of southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi early Tuesday. The ‘jellyfish cloud’ would be in association with the SpaceX Bandwagon-5 mission launching from Florida during the predawn hours. Another SpaceX launch a week ago produced quite the show for those along the Louisiana coast who were up to witness it, but there is uncertainty in how far west it my be visible due to our distance from the launch site and it being very low on the horizon.

NICE WEATHER LOCALLY THIS WEEK; BEST OF ALL: GULF TO REMAIN QUIET… No tropical storms or hurricanes are forecast to happen in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea this week. I was inundated with questions over the last 3-4 days from concerned folks across our region who took a direct hit from Hurricane Isaias just over a week ago. Thankfully, we have zero concerns about a new tropical storm developing in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea over the next several days. The National Hurricane Center is watching an area of disturbed weather east of Virginia and North Carolina in the Atlantic Ocean, but that system will never directly affect northwest Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, or Texas.
