Amsterdam woman accused of Veterans Park shooting indicted on seven counts
FONDA — The Amsterdam woman accused of shooting another woman at Veterans Park over the summer has been indicted on seven counts in Montgomery County Court. Josefina J. Baret-Araujo, 36, of Amsterdam, was indicted on felony counts of first-degree assault, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm in a sensitive location. She is additionally charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.

The 1920s-era “dummy light” is set to be reinstalled at a notoriously confusing Wagner Square intersection in the Montgomery County village by the end of the year. The area of heavy snow will be near Berne around 510 PM EST, Westerlo around 520 PM EST, Ravena and Selkirk around 535 PM EST, and Castleton-On-Hudson around 540 PM EST. Travelers need to exercise extra caution if they must travel through this area of heavy snow. The rapidly changing visibility and potentially slippery roads could lead to accidents. Winter weather conditions can worsen quickly, so it is important to be prepared for snow or ice-covered roads. Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
