A 30-year-old man is facing charges after Montgomery County Police Department said he was walking around a Germantown neighborhood with an assault rifle last month.
On April 27, police said they got a report of a person walking around an apartment complex in the 23000 block of Sweetgum Circle carrying an assault rifle and knocking on random doors.
Once officers arrived at the apartment complex, they found Trevor Copeland of Silver Spring on the 3rd floor, and after "several minutes of communication, officers quickly apprehended Copeland."
Police said the man was in possession of a Privately Manufactured Firearm (PMF) short-barreled assault rifle loaded with 300 black ammunition rounds, with one round in the chamber. Police said Copeland is prohibited from possession of any firearms or ammunition.
Copeland is being charged with multiple firearms-related charges. He is currently being held without bond.
