For Diana and Don Gould; their garden has evolved from where it started 43 years ago when it was filled with children, pets, parties, and all things family, to where it is now ... the lovely, welcoming space of subtle, but colorful beauty.

Their garden at 1507 Rosewood Lane is one of nine to be on display during the 16th Garden & Arts Tour sponsored by the Flower Lovers Garden Club. The tour will take place 11 a.m. to
5 p.m. June 25 (rain or shine).

Diana has a love for hostas and you will find them mingling with grasses, day lilies, black eyed susan and ground covers. Plants are purchased locally as well as being traded and shared with family and friends.

A recently built deck and screened in porch looks over a beautiful little pond of floating water lilies and lettuces, featuring a one-of-a-kind waterfall.

A variety of interesting yard art can seen throughout the small space all have a story of how they found a place to shine in the garden — all except the one that still remains a mystery to the Goulds.

Don has his own passion for colorful beauties — in the restoration of antique cars. The cars have been “planted” in the driveway as an additional feature to be enjoyed and admired as you tour the gardens.

You won’t want to miss the unique storage barn built by Don from the bits and pieces of antiques and historic family treasures that is surrounded by the perennial flower beds.

This small backyard garden oasis will be an inspiration to those who think a small space can’t be grand. Come see for yourself.

To purchase tour tickets, visit Progreen Garden Center, Davidson Greenhouse, Country Hearts & Flowers, Milligan’s Flowers, Montgomery County Visitors Bureau, Just Because, Athens Art Gallery and Crawfordsville District Public Library.
