Fire damages Montgomery home just after midnight Saturday

A fire at the 5100 block of Carmichael Road drew in multiple units from Montgomery Fire/Rescue just after midnight Saturday.

According to a release from Assistant Fire Chief S.L. Cooper, heavy smoke and flames were visible from the ground floor of a two-story building when they arrived. Crews contained and extinguished the fire in the room where it began.

Firefighters searched through the building and evacuated everyone. According to Cooper, there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
