Inaugural MGM Runway 5K

The Montgomery Regional Airport has been cleared for takeoff for its Inaugural MGM Runway 5K on Saturday. Register, and you can can run or walk on a closed course completing one lap on Taxiways Bravo, Delta, Echo, and Runway 3-21 South, which are all located beside our active Runway 3-28. Runners will have a chance to run beside the aircraft and get a close-up view of aircraft landing and taking off. Registration is available at flymgm.com/mgm5k

Run on the runway of the Montgomery Regional Airport on Saturday for the inaugural MGM Runway 5K.

Registration is $40 per participant, and runners will receive an MGM 5K race shirt (to be worn on race day), bib, MGM water bottle, clear backpack, and a finishers medal. A registered adult must accompany children 14 and under. Free parking will be provided day of the race.

Proceeds benefit the River Region United Way.

“Originally, we had plans to launch this event last October; unfortunately, things happen, and we had to cancel the race suddenly, and we apologize for the inconvenience for those that were looking forward to the run,” said Brittney Jones-Dabney, airport marketing and communications manager. “As you can imagine, this isn’t your typical 5K, and there are many factors to be considered when planning the race.”

The race will begin at 7:30 a.m., with all participants off the runway by 8:30 a.m., allowing MGM to resume full operations for the morning peak of flights starting on Saturday. For questions, please contact MGM5K@flymgm.com.

As of now, more than 250 runners have already signed up. and will be capped at 500 participants.

Family Summer Library Club Kick Off Party

The Autauga-Prattville Public Library, 254 Doster St., Prattville, is celebrating summer reading Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Get reading logs and information, and stay for games, food and fun. They'll have a bouncy house, Chalk the Block with Kindness, bubbles and shaving cream tables, field day games, tattoos and face paint, and more.

Second Saturday Festival, 70s style

Montgomery is going back to the 1970s on Saturday for Second Saturday on Commerce Street, near the Riverwalk Tunnel entrance. Dress in your best 70s attire and bring your skates! Prizes for the top 70s outfits! Featuring the 70's cover band Hat Trick,  Montgomery Roller Derby team,  Dj Tray, a dance floor, 70s themed mocktails, classic 1970's vintage cars,  food vendors, and fireworks.

The Robin Hood of Korea play at Davis Theatre

A special take on th classic tale of Robin Hood is happening live on stage Friday at the Davis Theatre, 251 Montgomery St. It's "The Robin Hood of Korea," a production with action, humor and heart, presented by A-KEEP. Go Fish, Alabama!

Go fishing Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon at Gateway Park, 3800 Davenport Drive, Montgomery. The program provides adults and families with little-to-no fishing experience an opportunity to fish under the guidance and instruction of a skilled fishing mentor. The program is for adults and families interested in learning how to fish, socializing outdoors with friends and family, putting fish on the dinner table, or simply enjoying the thrill and challenge of the catch. Poetry Slam Night

Cabaret at ASF

July 6-Aug. 6 on Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s Festival Stage.
