The Montgomery Police Department notified Central Alabama CrimeStoppers and advised a suspect has been identified and arrested in a July homicide investigation.

Following the senseless, July 12, 2022, fatal shooting of David Werking Jr., the Montgomery Police Department requested assistance from CrimeStoppers and was seeking information from the public in the ongoing homicide investigation.

Investigators said, Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at about 12:16 a.m., police responded to the Atlanta Highway and Perry Hill Road in reference to a subject shot. Upon arrival, units located an adult male who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim was identified as David Werking, 19.

Christmas 2022 was the victim’s family’s first Christmas without their beloved family member. The Werking family was seeking answers during this time and was waiting for someone to come forward with information.

Investigators notified CrimeStoppers and advised that a suspect, Travontaye Rudolph, 27, was identified and arrested in this ongoing homicide investigation. Investigators credit an anonymous tipster with providing information that led investigators to the identification of the suspect. Investigators say it was this anonymous tipster’s information that helped identify the suspect.

Travontave Rudolph was arrested on May 24, 2023, and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility without bond for Capital Murder.

Central Alabama Crimestoppers gives kudos to investigators for their dedication to this case and for charging a suspect involved in this fatal shooting. CrimeStoppers gives accolades to the anonymous tipster for coming forward and providing crucial information that ultimately identified a suspect in this investigation. CrimeStoppers will be providing a $1,000.00 cash reward to the anonymous tipster. The Werking family came forward in February of 2023, offering a $4,000.00 cash reward for information that led investigators to an arrest in this investigation.

The Werking family would like to thank the Montgomery Police Department, CrimeStoppers, and those involved in the apprehension of Travontaye Rudolph. The Werking family is thankful for the community’s support and prayers and for tipsters coming forward with information in this ongoing investigation. The Werking family asks anyone with additional information to still come forward, as the investigation is ongoing. The Werking family encourages anyone that has information about any violent crime to come forward with information.
