An inmate who escaped an Alabama prison was taken back into custody Friday morning in Montgomery.

Tandion Markeeice Stoudemire, 21, made his escape about 2 a.m. Thursday from the medium-security lockup Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County. Authorities have not said how he made his getaway.

He is serving a 23-year prison sentence for a 2022 attempted murder conviction out of Montgomery.

Alabama Department of Corrections officials said prison investigators, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force and Central Alabama Crime Stoppers took Stoudemire into custody about 8 am. Friday. He was recaptured in the 2900 block of Woodley Road in Montgomery.

Stoudemire was returned to Kilby Correctional Facility for processing.

A woman – Acacia Laraea Stallworth – was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree facilitating escape. She has since been released on bond.

Court records show Stallworth and Stoudemire have a 2-year-old child together.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be added.
