Sneak peek inside the new Coquette in Uptown
Popular French restaurant Coquette will open in its newly relocated South Tryon spot on Wednesday, March 4. Why it matters: The French-inspired restaurant, café and buvette has become an Uptown staple since opening in 2023 . Although its new location is only four blocks away from the original, "for Charlotte people, that's quite the distance," owner Jill Marcus tells Axios. Driving the news: Coquette's new address is 101 S Tryon St. , across from the new McColl Park . The original spot closed on Sunday, Feb. 22, giving the team a 10-day turnaround. "We didn't want the employees to be without a job for too long," Marcus says. Sommelier Fabien Boudart will lead the wine program. Photo: Laura Barrero/Axiso What to expect: Coquette will open daily for lunch, brunch and dinner. The new space has 60 more seats than the previous location, including two private dining rooms and an outdoor patio. Dig in: Executive chef Stefano Gallo will create new "elevated" dishes for the menu, says Marcus, but much of the menu will remain the same. "The menu is not your typical bistro fare ... it feels more like a family restaurant that you would visit in France," Marcus says.
