Brush fires burn in 2 counties, close Route 33 Southbound in Wind Gap
WIND GAP, Pa. — Firefighters battled brush fires around Route 33 in Monroe and Northampton counties on Monday, prompting the closure of southbound Route 33 in Wind Gap. "We had numerous fires along [Route] 33 expanding miles of territory, and dozens of fire companies to assist in extinguishing the fires along with DCNR, the parks service, and fish and wildlife," said Leon Clapper, fire chief of Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Company in Hamilton Township, Monroe County.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Monroe by NWS
Instruction: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northwestern Monroe County in northeastern Pennsylvania until 4:00 PM EDT. A severe thunderstorm with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail was located over Angels, moving south at 25 mph. Minor damage to vehicles is possible and there is a risk of wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines. The warning affects several locations including Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna, Gouldsboro State Park, Arrowhead Lake, and Pocono Pines, including a section of Interstate 380 in Pennsylvania. The hail threat is indicated as 1.00 inch, while the wind threat is indicated as 60 mph, according to radar.
