MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has released new information regarding a body that was found on Dug Hill Road two years ago.
According to a press release, on June 1, 2023, Detectives with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office searched the area of Dug Hill Road where the human remains of an unknown individual were found on June 10, 2021.
Detectives are continuing the investigation after new information was obtained from the forensic anthropological report from the University of Tennessee.
In the anthropological report, which was provided to investigators in March of 2023, it indicated that the remains were that of a 14–23-year-old white male between 5’6″- 6’00”.
The new information has been sent to The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). This is a national clearinghouse and resource center for missing, unidentified, and unclaimed person cases throughout the United States.

“On June 10, 2021, Deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Dug Hill Road for the recovery of human remains.
Investigators from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office and WV State Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. The remains were recovered and sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for identification.
The individual was wearing an LA Lakers shirt and black sweatpants. Due to the state of the remains, gender and race is undetermined, however, the individual appeared to have had dreadlocks.
