Body found in Monongalia County

CHEAT LAKE, W.Va. — Monongalia County deputies say a Pennsylvania man’s body was found in the Cheat Lakes area Thursday.

The body of James Lanko, 62, of Point Marion, Pa., was located by deputies who were patrolling the area near Birch Hollow and Darnell Hollow.

The deputies came across a red car parked in a heavily wooded area along a logging trail and found the man’s body about 10 feet from it.

Lanko’s body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

Deputies said the death is not suspicious but an investigation is ongoing pending the results of the autopsy.
