Marion County fire receives new engine from state

Marion County Fire District No. 1 has received a fire engine from the Oregon State Fire Marshal as part of the state’s “Ready Oregon” initiative.

The district received the engine on April 2.

The district says the new “type 3” engine will help it increase capacity and modernize its equipment.

The engine will be housed in the district’s Four Corners station at 300 Cordon Road NE in east Salem.

Marion County Fire District No. 1 says it responded to a record 11,041 emergency calls in 2023, including 135 fires.

“Today is a very exciting day for Marion County Fire District No. 1 and we are grateful to the Oregon State Fire Marshal for selecting our organization to receive this brand new fire engine which will serve to protect thousands of at risk properties and vulnerable populations,” Marion County fire chief Kyle McMann said.

The State Fire Marshal has purchased 76 fire apparatus for departments throughout the state as part of a $25 million program set up through a wildfire law from 2021.
