E-Bicyclist, 66, Seriously Hurt In Route 35 Jersey Shore Crash

A 66-year-old man on an e-bike was seriously hurt when he collided with a car in Monmouth County, authorities said.

On Tuesday, March 21, at 3:51 p.m. Wall police responded to the intersection of State Route 35 and Lakewood Road.

The bicyclist, from Brielle, had been traveling east on Lakewood Road when he entered the intersection with State Route 35, Wall police said.

He collided with a Volkswagen driven by a 36-year-old Toms River woman who was traveling south on Route 35, police said.

The bicyclist was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Wall Township Emergency Medical Services and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson. South Wall Fire Department responded to the scene as well to provide medical support.

Traffic was diverted for approximately two hours.

The Wall Township Police Department is asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any information to contact Patrolman Megan Alexander or Captain Chad Clark of the Wall Township Police Department at 732-449-4500. 

The investigation is ongoing.
