Man charged with reckless homicide, DUI in fatal crash on I-57
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago man has been charged with reckless homicide, after two people were killed in a crash on Interstate 57 on Tuesday near south suburban Posen.Illinois State Police said 23-year-old Isaac Espejel was speeding in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 146th Street around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, when he lost control of his Ford Ecosport SUV, and crashed into the concrete median barrier.Two passengers in the SUV were killed in the crash. Espejel was treated for minor injuries.Police said Espejel was charged on Wednesday with two felony counts of reckless homicide and two felony counts of aggravated DUI.

Man hit by Metra train in Robbins
ROBBINS, Ill. (CBS) -- A Metra train hit a pedestrian Thursday night in south suburban Robbins.The rail agency said Metra Rock Island District train No. 513 struck the pedestrian.CBS 2 is told the man was rushed to an area hospital. Semi catches fire on I-80, stalling rush hour traffic
JOLIET, Ill. - A semi caught fire on Interstate 80 and blocked all westbound traffic during the morning rush Thursday near Joliet. The semi started burning around 6:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-80 near the Des Plaines River. All westbound lanes were shut down as crews worked to put out the fire and clear the scene just before the Des Plaines River bridge.
Two Dead, One Injured in Early Morning Car Crash on I-57 Near Posen
Tragedy struck early Tuesday morning on I-57 near Posen, Illinois, where two people died in a vehicular calamity, and another was sent to the hospital with serious injuries, as confirmed by Illinois State Police. A spokesperson for the state police stated that the accident occurred just before 2 a.m. near 147th Street where a car lost control in the northbound lanes. The harrowing incident resulted in a man and a woman being ejected from the vehicle. As stated by a Sun-Times report, the woman was found dead at the scene, while the man succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Joliet Police Investigate Shots Fired Call on East Side
Earlier in the afternoon on Thursday, April 18th, just after 12:30 pm, Joliet Police Officers responded to the 1200 block of Richards Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers located over 30 spent shells casings at the scene. Officers located two unoccupied uninvolved vehicles that were struck by gunfire. Additionally, a window at Splish Splash Laundromat and a nearby brick wall, both located at 1220 Richards Street, were found to be struck by gunfire.
One Juvenile Hospitalized Following Joliet House Fire, Six Treated for Smoke Inhalation at the Scene
At 4:50 p.m. on April 16th, Joliet Fire Department responded to 427 Liberty St. for reports of a structure fire. The first units arrived within 4 minutes of the call and were met with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of a 2-story single family dwelling. Multiple hose lines were used to extinguish fire.
