The Davie County Sheriff’s Office says that they responded to a shooting on Pineville Road just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to deputies, an 18-year-old girl called 911 about a shooting at the home, staying on the line with telecommunications operators until deputies found her hiding with a 1-month-old baby.

Jade Marie Sales, 34, of Mocksville, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in the home. The suspect was identified as Dennis Jerome Sales, 38, of Mocksville, who left the scene before deputies arrived and was apprehended in Kingsport, Tennessee on Wednesday morning.

Additional children who lived in the home were at school during the time of the incident and were placed in the care of the Department of Social Services.

Sales has been charged with murder. No word on when he’ll be extradited to Davie County.
