UPDATE: Case against suspect in Airport Boulevard shooting heads to grand jury

UPDATED Aug. 1, 2023: A judge on Tuesday bound over a murder case against Joseph Orr to a grand jury.

Orr is accused of murdering 31-year-old David Henley. The incident happened at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Hillcrest Road on June 4. Mobile police said Henley was found on scene in a car suffering from a gunshot wound.

Orr was given a $300,000 bond with a 10%. If Orr makes bond, he’ll have to wear an ankle monitor and will be on house arrest.

Orr is accused of shooting and killing another man earlier this month. David Henley was gunned down at the intersection of Hillcrest Road and Airport Boulevard on June 4 officers found him inside his car.

The judge also ordered a 10% cash component to the bond. If Orr makes bond, he’ll have to wear an ankle monitor and will be on house arrest.

UPDATED June 29, 2023, 9:19 p.m.: The District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Joseph Orr, 30, has been arrested as the suspect in the Airport Boulevard shooting that killed David Henley.

Orr is charged with murder, according to jail records.

EARLIER STORY:

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile Police said they are investigating a shooting from Sunday, June 4 that killed a 31-year-old man.

Police said they responded to the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Hillcrest Road around 1:30 a.m. and found a male victim with a gunshot wound.

The victim died at the scene and his name is not being released at tis time, according to MPD.

Authorities are asking for anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Mobile Police.
