Ann Toomey, along with her husband jack, founded Toomey's Mardi Gras out of the back of their home in the 1970's.
This is video from 2000, when Ann shared with us her memories about Mardi Gras in Mobile when she was a child.
When the business outgrew their home, Ann and Jack moved it to a small strip mall on Bel Air Blvd. - a business so successful it was featured in Forbes Magazine.
That building is gone, but Toomey's is still here, now on Government Blvd and run by their son, Stephen.
Ann Toomey, a Mobile Mardi Gras pioneer, was 90 years old.
