We know you know...
"Where da gold at?"
And we know most of America knows.
"Coulda been a crack head that got hold of the wrong stuff!"
But did you know they also know at the National Leprechaun Museum in Ireland?
"The artists impression that was displayed during your report, I mean it was uncanny! Just look at this and you can just see the leprechaun come to life in front of your eyes."
Those comments from two storytellers at the museum in Dublin.
We didn't know they knew until we heard from Mobile resident Zue Farmer and her daughter Angela, who visited Dublin recently and thought they'd stop by the museum to offer greetings from the home of the Crichton Leprechaun.
"And when we mentioned that we were from Mobile, Alabama,” said Zue, “they immediately referred to our leprechaun sighting in Mobile."
On fact, the museum refers to the clip, lovingly, as one of the most significant pieces of documentary film over the last 20 years.
For Angela, who is in the 7th grad, it was a chance to learn more about her... heritage...
What did she find out about Leprechauns she didn't know?
"Extra stories that I didn't know about.” She says, “like the shoe, that if you leave your shoes out they'll take them or something."
It's no surprise to these experts that Mobile would be a natural attraction for leprechauns. Museum staff says generally, Leprechauns love old things, and Mobile is one of the oldest cities in the United States.
And apparently Mobile's Mardi Gras also pulls them in.
"Leprechauns are known for enjoying the social elements, partying. Music,” says storyteller Mark. “And that was in the footage as well, we see one of the gentlemen showing off a flute used to attract leprechauns."
And then the Farmers dropped a bomb on me.
This Crichton Leprechaun thing? It's about to get very... real.
"They said they are putting together certification for Miss Kaye Ivey, for our governor," says Zue.
On the museum’s You Tube page, they show a mockup. Of the official certification is being notarized right now.
A certified sighting?
Everybody in favor say yeah!
"Yeah!"
If you know... you know.
