Foresters in Montana will convene in Missoula to discuss evolving forest management objectives in their annual meeting.
The Montana Society of American Foresters meets next Wednesday through Friday to gain insights on a variety of management issues and drivers.
This year's theme is Forests and People: working with evolving management objectives.
Organizers released the following information:
Nearly 80 participants will gather at the Holiday Inn Downtown from March 29th through 31st for the Montana Society of American Foresters Annual Meeting to gain insights on a variety of current management issues and drivers. The theme of this year’s meeting, “Forests and people: working with evolving management objectives” includes a great lineup of speakers with a wide cross-section of topics and expertise, including recreation, urban forestry, commercial forestry, the role of NGOs, collaborative networks, and public engagement.
On Thursday, March 30, the meeting will kick-off with a video address from Gov. Greg Gianforte. Presentations will be provided by scientists and conservation professionals from organizations such as the UM Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research, U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station, Blackfoot Challenge, Manomet, Inc., City of Missoula, and Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
Student participation is expected to be at its highest ever with nearly 20 college students from the University of Montana and a science class from St. Regis High School.
