    Local man charged with kidnapping and assault

    A Baldwyn man has been charged with kidnapping and assault involving his spouse according to a press release from the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department.

    On July 27th, 2024 Deputy Ethan Hester took a report from a victim that came to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department.

    In that report, the victim stated that her husband, identified as 45 year old Brian Flanagan of Baldwyn, had beat her the night before at their residence on County Road 6011 in Prentiss County. According to the PCSD, the victim had bruising on her body, including bruising around her neck. She stated her husband would choke her until she would almost lose consciousness then he would let her up. He took her phone and electronics so she could not call for help and would not allow her to leave the residence.

    An ambulance was called to the sheriff’s department to check the female out.

    The victim signed affidavits on her husband and warrants were issued.

    A search warrant was conducted on the residence and evidence of the crime was recovered.

    Brian L. Flanagan of Baldwyn was charged with Domestic Violence – Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping.

    Justice Court Judge Ray Hall set the bond at $150,000.00.
