In a harrowing discovery, 27 dogs were found living in deplorable conditions inside a Corinth home leading to 27 charges of animal cruelty according to the Corinth Police Department.

The Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter described the scene as unimaginable, with feces and urine piled up and caked on the floor, furniture, and beds. Dogs were scattered throughout the house, desperate for food and water, which were nowhere to be found.

Tragically, a dead puppy had been left to be scavenged by the surviving dogs. The smell was nearly unbearable, and the animals were infested with fleas, ticks, worms, and heartworms.

The shelter is collaborating with the ASPCA and Guardians of Rescue to rescue these dogs. The 12 most critical cases have already been moved to the shelter, while the remaining dogs are being cared for on-site and will be removed by tomorrow.

The shelter is appealing to the community for urgent assistance. Their most critical needs include wet and dry dog food and help with medical expenses. Donations can be made directly to the shelter.

"A huge thank you goes out to the Corinth Police Department, ASPCA, and Guardians of Rescue for their swift action in this dire situation," said the Shelter.

In connection with this case, Jonathan Hurst has been charged with 27 counts of animal cruelty. Hurst, an employee with the City of Corinth, was arrested on Sunday, July 28th, and is now out on bond as of Tuesday.

A judge ordered Hurst's release on his own recognizance, and he is currently on pretrial release. Hurst has been suspended from his job but has not yet been officially terminated.

The Corinth Police Department has indicated that more charges and arrests are possible as the investigation continues.

out on bond.... obviously the bond wasn't high enough. Praying that he gets an animal lover as the prosecutor... Throw the book at this dirtbag. Prison sentence and FIRE him immediately from his job.

How in gods name could you let him out? It seems that the justice system is broken. No one wants to take care of them in jail. Just like drunks even if they kill someone they go free. In that case demand a bigger fine to pay for their crime
