One of the oldest non-profits in the state of Indiana is asking for help.
The Humane Society of St. Joseph County is hot right now, as a key air conditioner unit is broken.
The heat is caused by an HVAC unit that services the areas for the dogs up for adoption and new-cat intake.
The humane society is currently taking care of 250 animals but can see nearly double that at busier times.
This cooling unit is 13 years old, so repairing is just a temporary solution until they can get a replacement.
There's a donation page to help these animals get the proper AC, but there's also a better way to help these dogs.
“There's nowhere to move the dogs. So, we have over 20 dogs right now where their adoption fees are sponsored. So, if people are looking to add a pet to their family please go online and fill out the adoption application. We will give you a call to come in and meet the animals,” said Genny Brown, Humane Society of St. Joseph County.
The Humane Society was told the unit would be fixed Friday, but as of 2 p.m., WSBT received word that the temperature inside was 74 degrees when the unit was set to 68.
