The identity of the shooter and the victim from Sunday’s shooting in Minot has been revealed.
The victim has been identified as Greyson Sletto of Willow City. Police released his name after notifying his family of the incident.
The shooter has been identified as Travis McDermott of Minot. McDermott is currently being held on the following charges:
- Manslaughter with a Dangerous Weapon (Class B Felony)
- Reckless Endangerment with Extreme Indifference with a Dangerous Weapon (Class C Felony)
For the charges, a Class B Felony carries a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment and a $20,000 fine, while a Class C Felony carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
UPDATE — May 14, 7:29 p.m.
According to a press release from the Minot Police Department, officers are continuing to investigate the shooting, which is confirmed to have taken place at The Original Bar and Nightclub. The incident resulted in the death of a 32-year-old Minot man.
The suspect in custody (a 40-year-old Minot man) is currently being held on the charge of Reckless Endangerment — Extreme Indifference with a Weapon, as state attorneys continue to investigate the case for further charges.
KX News spoke with witnesses who were at the bar at the time of the shooting who say, the shooting occurred just before the bar closed.
They say the lights came on and people were leaving when a fight broke out inside of the bar between a large group of people.
Witnesses then heard two gunshots, saw a man fall to the ground, and bystanders holding another man down.
They say after the gunshots, people were in a panic and were even jumping the patio fence to get out of the crowded bar.
The names of the culprit and the shooting victim will not be released by KX at this time.

MINOT, N.D. (KXNET) — The Minot Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that led to the death of one individual.
According to a Facebook post from the department, the shooting took place at The Original Bar and Nightclub, located at 720 N. Broadway. One person was shot and succumbed to their injuries. The suspect is currently in custody.
As this is a current active investigation, no further information is available at this time.
