Mosinee Survives Lakeland scare to Move to 19-0
MINOCQUA, Wis. (WJFW)- The Mosinee Indians faced the toughest battle of their perfect season as Lakeland Union gave them all they could handle but in the end the Indians survived with a 4-3 win to move to 19-0. Mosinee sophomore Ava Busse and Lakeland Junior and Arkansas commit Saylor Timmerman battled through four scoreless innings before Mosinee struck in the fifth. A Taelyn Jirschele single and an Amber Gonzalez RBI ground out gave Mosinee a 2-0 lead.

Phillips and Chequamegon high schools each celebrated track and field accomplishments at the Rhinelander Invitational on May 9. Chequamegon senior Autumn Michalski was a triple winner of the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 run events, and Phillips senior Hayden Sokolowski won the 110 and 300 meter hurdles to highlight just two star athletes on the day. JOB DUTIES: Lakeland Sanitary District No. 1, a municipal water and sewer utility, has an opening for the position of Water/Wastewater Operator. As part of our team, District employees can positively impact the lives of others and the environment providing safe water and wastewater treatment. The operator is responsible for operation of the wastewater treatment plant, collection system, drinking water wells and distribution system. Knowledge of math and attention to detail is a must. Other duties include but not limited to general maintenance and repairs to equipment, building structures and grounds. Candidate must be an energetic self-starter with excellent work record and able to work with minimum supervision. Weekend and holiday work is required on a rotating basis as well as emergencies. Some job duties include but not limited to: Operate or control an entire process or system of machines, often using control boards, to transfer or treat water or wastewater. Add chemicals such as ammonia, chlorine, or lime to disinfect and deodorize water and other liquids. Clean and maintain tanks, filter beds, and other work areas using hand tools and power tools. Collect and test water and sewage samples, using test equipment and color analysis standards. Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions. Maintain, repair, and lubricate equipment, using hand tools and power tools. Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process, or dispose of sewage, and generate power. Record operational data, personnel attendance, or meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
Sarah Barton drives in five runs in second inning to propel Lakeland Union over Rhinelander
MINOCQUA, Wis. (WJFW)- Lakeland Union hosted Rhinelander in high school girl's softball in the second game between the two rivals this season. In the first game, the T-Birds got the win in Rhinelander, taking down the Hodags 21-0. Now, Rhinelander is looking to steal a win on the road against their conference rival in this Thursday afternoon Great Northern Conference showdown.
Medford continues strong play with series win over Northland Pines
EAGLE RIVER, Wis. (WJFW) - It was business as usual for the Medford Raiders this Saturday afternoon as they completed a doubleheader sweep of Northland Pines. The Raiders were able to take game one and follow it up with a hard fought victory in game two. The Raiders were in a hole early in game two as the Eagles were able to put two runs on the board in the top of the first inning. But this Medford club is a resilient bunch and they were able to rally and tie the game up at 2-2 in the second inning. The Eagles would put give the Raiders a fight as they would not go away, however Medford's offense was too much for Northland Pines and they won game two by a final score of 9-7.
