Minnehaha County Commission approve setbacks to 330 feet

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- It was a packed house full of emotion.

Minnehaha County Commissioners voted this morning to cut the safety setback zones for CO-2 pipelines roughly in half.

The proposal to require a 330-foot setback between the pipelines and buildings was made by Commissioner Joe Kippley.

Landowner Joy Hohn of Hartford was among those opposed to the smaller setback zone.

Lincoln County is still working on regulations for the pipelines, while Lake County has decided not to put any county regulations in place.
