MINERVA RODEO – Tickets are available for the sixth annual Minerva Chamber Rodeo, planned July 15 at Minerva’s Municipal Park. Children’s activities will begin at 3 p.m. in the arena with stick-horse races and preliminaries for mutton busting, in which children weighing 50 pounds or less compete to see who can stay on the back of a sheep the longest. Helmets and vests are provided. The rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. Rodeo will include such events as bull riding, bareback bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, mutton busting finals and the calf scramble for kids. At 9 pm., a free concert is planned with Tony Rio and Relentless. Presale tickets can be purchased through July 14 at Kishman’s IGA in Minerva and Malvern, Loudon Motors Ford, Gionino’s Pizzeria in Minerva, the Minerva Area YMCA, Consumers National Bank- Minerva Branch, Huebner Chevrolet/Subaru and Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce, or at minervarodeo23.eventbrite.com. Presale tickets are $12 for ages 12 and older, $7 for ages 6-11, and free for ages 5 and younger. At the gate, tickets will be $15 and $10. SQUARE DANCING – The Friendly Squares plan their monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. in Niles. Rex Parker will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will cue line dances. Dress is casual, and light refreshments will be served. A $6 donation will be collected at the door. BABY SUPPLIES – Columbiana County Health District plans two Community Baby Sprinkles in partnership with Help Me Grow, Akron Children’s Hospital, WIC and Insight Clinical Counseling. Registration is required to take part in the events, planned from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at East Palestine Public Library, 309 N. Market St.; and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Wellsville Carnegie Public Library, 115 9th St. in Wellsville. Health District staff will provide such items as infant carriers, convertible care seats, booster seats, pack and plays, fitted crib sheets and halo sleep sacks. Attendees also can enter a drawing for a diaper bag full of items perfect for a new or expectant mother. Attendees must be WIC income eligible Columbiana County residents. FISHING DERBY, BABY SHOWER – The Father Coalition and Family Empowerment Ministries plans a Fishing Rodeo and Community Baby Shower on June 24 at Silver Park in Alliance. The rodeo will be open to moms, dads and children of all ages from 8 a.m. to noon. Kidwell Lake will be stocked with fish for the event. The baby shower will be 10 a.m. to noon in the main pavilion at Silver Park. Women pregnant with a child or who have a child age 2 or younger are eligible to attend. BARK & BREW – Coastal Pet Products and Aeonian Brewing Co. will play host to Bark & Brew at 9 a.m. Saturday on Iron Horse Trail, behind First Christian Church, 1141 W. Beech St. in Alliance. The 5K run or walk will benefit Leader Dogs for the Blind, a non-profit that matches blind or visually impaired people with pups to help them with their daily activities. Friendly dogs are welcome to join their masters in the 5K. After the fitness, enjoy an afternoon at Aeonian with a corn hole tournament and raffle baskets. AFTERNOON TEA – Columbiana Women’s Club plans Art & Afternoon Tea from 2 to 4 p.m. June 24 at its Clubhouse, 121 N. Main St. in Columbiana. Afternoon tea will combine with an art-related program.
