Montana Highway Patrol reported an officer involved shooting near St. Regis Saturday afternoon.
Mineral County Sheriff's Office, Sander's County Sheriff's Office and Montana Highway Patrol were all involved when the incident occurred.
Before the incident, officials said law enforcement were pursuing suspects related to an armed robbery in Osburn, Idaho Saturday morning.
According to the Mineral County Sheriff's Office, witnesses saw two people walking away from the suspected car in St. Regis. Officials learned where one suspect was located and took them into custody.
However, a hostage was taken by the second suspect before being contacted by law enforcement. When officers arrived on scene, the second suspect shot the hostage. Law enforcement then took action, and the suspect died from related injuries.
Officials say no law enforcement was injured during the incident. However, the injured civilian was taken to a Missoula hospital.

The Mineral County Sheriff's Office, Sander's County Sheriff's Office, and Montana Highway Patrol were involved in an officer involved shooting near St. Regis this afternoon. Prior to the incident, law enforcement in Idaho was pursuing the suspects for armed robbery.
All suspects are accounted for and the investigation has been turned over to the Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident. One civilian was injured during the incident and transported to a Missoula hospital.
