No Survivors In Friday Plane Crash Near Kearney
KEARNEY–(KFOR June 2)–Authorities say there are no survivors following a plane crash Friday morning about 12 miles east of Kearney in south-central Nebraska. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says they were contacted just after 9 o’clock Friday morning about the crash south of I-80. First responders were able to locate the crash site in a field near the east east of the Bassway Strip State Wildlife Management Area. The crash appears to involve a small single engine aircraft.

Kearney man injured after pickup runs into camper
KEARNEY, Neb. — A Kearney man is in the hospital after an accident involving a pickup and a camper. The Kearney County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 2:30 Thursday afternoon about two miles south of Kearney. A news release says a pickup turned east from Highway 44 onto Highway 50A and hit the back of a camper towed by a pickup, which had stalled in the eastbound lane. 72-year-old David Lewis of Kearney was in front of the pickup making repairs. The release says the crash pushed the pickup forward, dragging Lewis underneath the vehicle.

Crews battle fire at Eatons in Kearney, facility evacuated
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department rushed to an industrial fire at Eaton’s Corporation Wednesday evening. Upon arrival, KVFD crews found heavy black smoke coming from the roof and exterior doors of the west side of the facility and employees in the process of evacuation. The first arriving engine established a water supply and the crew pulled hand lines and made entry into the facility, which led to them quickly extinguishing the flames.
Update on Kearney Shootings Last Week
On Sunday, May 14, 2023 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Kearney Police Department Officers received a report of gunshots fired in the 1000 block of W 23rd Street. When officers arrived, an adult male subject was contacted near W 23rd and 7th Ave suffering from an apparent laceration/stab wound to the leg. Officers administered first aid at the scene and called for a rescue squad. The victim was transported by EMS to CHI Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Department with a serious but non-life-threatening laceration.
