MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A couple new to Milwaukee were introduced to the city's violent side quickly. They had been living here only a few months when someone opened fire outside of their home.
Milwaukee police say the incident happened on May 14, near 42nd and Spaulding -- near Sherman and North. Around 9:30 p.m., detectives say two people were sitting in their car right outside their house.
That's when a group walked up to their window and opened fire.
Both the driver and passenger were able to flag down a nearby police officer for help.
There are three people authorities want to find and question who they believe live in the area of Sherman and Lisbon.
"The two victims were very, very new to the area...they don't have ties to the Milwaukee area. They weren't engaging in criminal activity. They didn't initiate contact with the people who shot them. They were literally parked on the street in front of one of their homes. We don't really know what the motive was," said Detective Raena Vrtochnick, with the Milwaukee Police Department.
Detectives say the victims are out of the hospital but they were seriously injured.
If you have any information on this case, contact Milwaukee Crime Stoppers anonymously online or at 414-224-TIPS (8477).
