Milwaukee possible abduction; child grabbed near 39th and Meinecke
Milwaukee police are investigating the possible abduction of a 10-year-old boy near 39th and Meinecke on Saturday.
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police are investigating the possible abduction of a child near 39th and Meinecke on Saturday, May 27.
Police said shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, a man driving a U-Haul was seen approaching the child, striking him and placing him in the vehicle. The man drove west on W. Meinecke Avenue.
Police described the man as Hispanic, between the ages of 30 to 39 and about 5'1" to 5'2" tall. He was wearing a beige baseball hat, beige shirt and beige shorts, police say.

The victim was described as 10-year-old boy, African American.

Milwaukee police are seeking both.
A neighbor said she's noticed an unusual amount of U-Hauls in the area, but no one has moved in or out. She talked with a woman who saw the whole thing.

On Memorial Day, a holiday for many and a day to spend honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice, it was hard for this neighbor to relax.
"You don't know who is around the corner," she said.
She talked with a neighbor who saw what went down on Saturday.
"He was tussling," she said. "He was hitting the little boy. She said he hit him in the face, he choked him and put him in the back of the car. This could happen right under your nose at 11 o’clock – broad daylight."
She said the neighborhood is filled with kids, and she has grandchildren herself, adding to the concern.

"There’s a lot of kids over here," she said. "They’re out in the summertime playing."
No one in the area seemed to know who the boy might be who was involved in Saturday's possible abduction. Police said Monday that's why they aren't sure whether the boy was abducted because no one had reported a missing child fitting the same description. However, police are investigating this as an abduction at this point.
