Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office: 23 accidents by 9:00am. "This snow is sticking and it’s deep...stay home until the roads are clearer."

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As of 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) says they've already responded to 23 weather-related accidents on Milwaukee County freeways.

According to MCSO, "This snow is “sticking,” and it’s deep. If people do not absolutely NEED to get somewhere this morning, we’re encouraging everyone to stay home until the roads are clearer."

An MCSO official had additional guidelines for driving: "If you must drive, please allow yourself extra time to brake. Snow-and-ice-slicked roads can require as much as 600-feet of lead time for a braking vehicle to slow adequately or come to a complete stop. Tailgating is a bad idea in perfect weather. It’s exponentially worse on days like this. Drive defensively, meaning, in snow or ice, slowly and keeping as much distance as possible between your vehicle and any others around you."

Stay tuned to CBS 58 for updates to this ongoing snow storm.
